Every year I say to myself: keep track of everything you read. Write down every title and author. Each year around March I realize I forgot to do it. Last year, I finally started—in June. It has been an exciting and interesting way to track what I’m reading and how much I read. The journal has shown me that I average a book a week.
There are a variety of ways to track your reading. Some people use book-focused social networks, like Shelfari, GoodReads, or LibraryThing. Others have spreadsheets. I use an “old-fashioned” method consisting of a small notebook. I don’t organize mine by author or series, but instead in simple chronological order. As soon as I finish a book, I write it down.
One year in, I’m really enjoying this process and plan to keep going. Do you keep a reading journal? How do you do it?
