Holiday Wine Tasting to benefit literacy program

Some people begin shopping for Christmas in July. Many start sprucing up their homes for holiday parties in August. Cujak’s Wine Market and the Fond du Lac Public Library hope you’ll think about holiday wines this fall.

Tickets for the annual Holiday Wine Tasting are on sale at Cujak’s, 47 N. Main St., and the library, 32 Sheboygan St. The event will be held at the library from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 5. The event will feature wine sampling, hors d’oeuvres from Fond du Lac Seafood, chocolate tasting from Indulgence Chocolatiers of Milwaukee and live music. Each person will receive a complimentary commemorative wine glass. Tickets are $25 ($40 after October 22). Attendees can sip and place holiday meal and gift orders that will be ready to pick up at the wine shop in time for Thanksgiving.

The event, sponsored by Cujak’s, the library and Grande Cheese, will benefit a new early literacy program at the library, “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten." The program will be a multiyear project to encourage parents to read 1,000 books with their children before they enter school. It aims to reinforce parents’ role as their child’s first and best teachers, introduce children to the wide range of reading materials available to them and to encourage families to use their public library.
