Packers' Super Bowl season photos in gallery show

The Green Bay Press-Gazette has a unique relationship with the Green Bay Packers. The home-town newspaper is as up close and personal as you can get with the historic franchise, and this closeness is readily apparent in “Back Home Again: A Photographic Journey of Green Bay’s 2010 Season.”

Photos of Wisconsin’s favorite team in action will be on display through September at the Fond du Lac Public Library Divers Community Gallery, 32 Sheboygan St. The pictures are the work of Press-Gazette photographers Corey Wilson, Evan Siegle, H. Marc Larson and Jim Matthews, who – as staff members of the newspaper – have unrivaled access to the team.

The public is invited to a reception at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 6. Members of the Press-Gazette staff will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the exhibit. No registration necessary; refreshments will be served.

The exhibit celebrates the opening of regular season play for the 2011-2012 season (September 8 at home vs. the New Orleans Saints). It also serves as an excellent kick-off for the library’s October celebration of Fond du Lac Reads: “When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Lombardi,” an award-winning biography by David Maraniss. The library will feature the book in programming throughout October.

“We’re very proud of the work done by our outstanding Photo Dept.,” said Press-Gazette President and Publisher Kevin Corrado, who coordinated the exhibit. “It’s a treat to see all the photos together in one exhibit. You get a real sense of the power and majesty of the game, and it sure puts you in the mood for another winning season.”

The exhibit is sponsored by the Press-Gazette and Camera Corner of Green Bay.

The Langdon Divers Community Gallery is open during regular library hours: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
