Nooks, Kindles available Oct 10

Starting Monday, October 10, the Fond du Lac Public Library will lend out Nook and Kindle e-reader devices to anyone holding a local library card age 18 or older.

The library will have five of each type of e-reader, and all will be preloaded with a variety of titles. Patrons can keep the e-readers for one week, and can renew the devices for another week if no one is waiting for it. Patrons also can place holds on the e-readers in the same way they place holds on books.

The Nooks, made by Barnes & Noble, all will have the same selection of titles. Each device will have about about 50 titles total, 10 each in five genres: biographies and memoirs, paranormal fiction, Christian and Amish fiction, holiday fiction and contemporary romance.

Each of the five Kindles, made by Amazon, will feature the same selection of titles: mysteries and thrillers, books into movies, book club favorites, Wisconsin fiction and a collection of best-selling author Janet Evanovich’s most-popular titles.

Patrons can review the exact titles on the devices by searching the online catalog at www.fdlpl.org. Enter either “nook” or “kindle” in the search field to be taken to the listings.

The e-reader devices are available at the Main Desk only. Patrons must have a valid Fond du Lac Public Library card to borrow a device. For more information, call Reference at (920) 929-7080, ext. 118.
