Cujak's donation for early literacy

Sara Cujak hosted the annual Cujak’s Wine Market Holiday Wine Tasting at the Fond du Lac Public Library in November. Amid the wine sampling, chocolates tasting and hors d’oeuvres noshing, serious business was under way: early literacy.

The event, also sponsored by Grande Cheese, raised funds for the library’s upcoming program, 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten.

On December 14, Cujak donated $2,800 – proceeds from the wine event – to the program. The funds will be used to provide incentives to parents to sign up and stay involved. The free program aims to reinforce parents’ role as their child’s first and best teachers, introduce children to the wide range of reading materials available to them and to encourage families to use the public library. The program will launch with a free family concert on Saturday, January 21.

“Sara’s donation to 1,000 Books gives us a great boost as we get under way,” said Children’s Coordinator Julia Cartwright. “We are so very grateful to Sara’s support of advancing early literacy and learning in our community.”
