Inspired by the breadth of talent on display, month after month, in the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Community Gallery, the library is issuing a call to area artists to submit art – photography included – for a 2018 wall calendar project, My Favorite Fondy.
Everyone is invited to submit – amateurs, professionals, photographers, all ages. Judges will select 12 images that capture the essence of living in the Fond du Lac area, and the resulting calendar, My Favorite Fondy, will be sold as a library fundraiser.
The smartphone era has created a renaissance in photography; and no group has embraced the art like teens. Their creativity has been the driving force behind the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Teen Photo Contest, now going into its third year.
The Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio has two 3-D printers. To help trained users get more fun out of the machines, the library is offering a program teaching 3-D design on TinkerCAD at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 26. TinkerCAD, is a free web-based 3-D computer-aided design application designed for beginners.
The Fond du Lac Public Library will hold its annual Mega-Zine Sale the first week of January at Chapter 52 Bookstore. Bundles of magazines from 2014 will be sold for 50 cents each and will include such popular titles as Vanity Fair, Shape, Outdoor Life, Country Living, Sports Illustrated, Reader’s Digest and Wisconsin Sportsman.
In a program to mark January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Trafficking and the Pornography Industry, will be presented at 6 p.m. Monday, January 9, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free; no registration required.
