'Saving to Build Wealth' Aug 1

Summer Reading @ the Library winds down Aug. 12

Summer Reading @ the Library ends on Saturday, August 12, which is the last day that participating kids, teens and adults can turn in their completed reading cards for rewards at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Bilingual Storytime Aug 4

English y Español: Stories for children of all ages will be shared in English and Spanish at 10 a.m. Friday, August 4, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The English y Español Storytime is free; no registration required.

Aug 24 Memory Café looks skyward

Persons with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia, their caregivers and family members are invited to monthly Alzheimer’s Association Memory Cafés held at 1 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The programs are free; no registration required. Each month features a new theme:

Author Ramirez at Chapter 52 on Aug 19

Local author Thomas Ramirez will sell and sign copies of his memoir, That Wonderful Mexican Band, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 19, at Chapter 52 Bookstore, next door to the Fond du Lac Public Library at 52 Sheboygan St.

Wheel-throwing demo Aug 8

Local artist Kathryn Dreifuerst will walk through the steps and demonstrate how to make clay pottery on a wheel at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio. The program is free and open to adults and teens age 13 and older. Registration is required starting at 9:30 a.m.

Learn to make German pretzels Aug 15

Homemade German pretzels are a regional favorite, and for good reason. The salty, puffy braided bread is comfort food in its finest. It doesn’t hurt that it goes great with a cold beer.

FDL Artists Assn. themed show Aug 2-Sep 6

To mark the coming of fall and return to school, the Fond du Lac Artists Association will present “Back 2 Basics,” a themed exhibit at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery August 2 to September 6. The public is invited to a reception 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 10, in the gallery. Refreshments will be served.

FDL Picture Show: Church and School Aug 17

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular History at Home series on August 17 will feature the third installment of the quarterly Fond du Lac Picture Shows. At 2 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m., Tracy Reinhardt of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society will share a slideshow of historical photos of area churches and schools.
