Storytime presenters needed
If you have experience working with groups of children, you find a room of smiling young faces undaunting and you love to tell a good story, the Fond du Lac Public Library hopes you will consider applying to be a Storytime presenter.
Over the years, the Storytime program has grown in popularity. Children are invited to come (with a grown-up) for 30-minute sessions of stories and play that instill a love of reading and a love of books. The library would like to expand the program, and needs help doing so.
“Children learn very quickly and respond very well when books and reading are put to them in a fun and interactive setting,” said Children’s Services Coordinator Julia Cartwright. “Storytimes are an easy and free way for parents to encourage good literacy habits.”
Cartwright said a Storytime presenter applicant would be someone who’s had experience working with groups of children, who understands literacy concepts and who enjoys reading aloud with enthusiasm. Presenters would be paid by the session and would be asked to commit to a block of sessions.
Information and applications are available at the library’s Main and Children’s desks. For additional information, contact Cartwright at [email protected].
