Find the Right Book
A book is the only place in which you can examine a fragile thought without breaking it, or explore an explosive idea without fear it will go off in your face. It is one of the few havens remaining where a man's mind can get both provocation and privacy. ~Edward P. Morgan
Are you looking for a new book to read? Are you struggling to find something that really suits your mood or taste? As always, we can help.
While the library has plenty of librarians willing to help, we understand that you sometimes can't make it to the library. Whether you're stuck at work or it is 2 am, another way to find a book is through NoveList. NoveList is a librarian's best friend and it can be yours too!
NoveList suggests books based on a variety of characteristics. Say you like historical fiction about World War II that have female main characters and are written in letters. Guess what? You can search for that!
Or say you loved "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society." You can type in the title of that book, or any author you love, and it will bring up a page all about that book. Included in the "Lists and Articles" are other books you may enjoy. On the right side of the page there will always be read-a-likes. These are books that are of a similar style and feel. You can pick and choose different features like a menu; this makes it a lot easier to narrow down your search.
Once you find a book you like, just pop over the FDLPL catalog or OverDrive and see if we've got it.
If you've got questions on how to use NoveList, feel free to stop by the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor and we'll show you around.
