New Book Club Kits put it all together
Book clubs no longer have to scramble to find enough copies of their reading selections. The Fond du Lac Public Library will offer Book Club Kits starting February 13.
The kits contain 10 copies of the same book and suggested discussion questions. One club member with a library account in good standing can borrow up to two kits at a time, each for 45 days. Kits can be reserved, too, through the standard holds system.
Initially, the library will have 20 kits, including titles such as “The Tiger’s Wife,” by Tea Obreht, “Cutting for Stone,” by Abraham Verghese, “Heaven is for Real,” by Todd Burpo and “Sing You Home,” by Jodi Picoult. The kits were created by Circulation Coordinator Lori Burgess and Readers’ Advisor Susan Ringer, who are working to expand the list of titles.
“We’d love to hear from clubs about which books they’re most interested in,” Burgess said. “We also would be happy to accept donations of sets of books from clubs that have finished with them. This would be an easy way to grow our Book Club Kit list for everyone.”
To search and reserve a kit, enter “Book Club Kit” in the library’s online catalog search (at www.fdlpl.org), or call the Help Desk at (920) 929-7080, ext. 131. Library staff also can help search for book club kits available from other libraries across the state.
