Poem in Your Pocket April 20-26

April is National Poetry Month, and the Fond du Lac Public Library will celebrate with Poem in Your Pocket.

Starting April 20 with a lobby display, visitors can pick up pocket poems to take, read and share. On Thursday, April 26, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., volunteer honor students from Sabish Middle School will hand out the pocket poems.

The highlighted poems were written by members of the Foot of the Lake Poetry Collective, group of local poets who support one another as poets and collaborate to host readings and author visits.

Poem in Your Pocket Day is promoted by the Academy of American Poets, which started the national event in 2009. Across the country, libraries, schools, bookstores, parks, workplaces and other venues celebrate with poetry handouts and readings.
