'Big History' extended to Mar 29

Inclement weather on March 1 canceled the popular Fond du Lac Public Library weekly program, “Big History of Overlooked America: First People to the Civil War,” so the series has been extended a week and will run through March 29. The programs are free; no registration required.

No Browser Open this spring

The Friends of the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Browser Open indoor mini-golf event is taking a year off; there will be no Browser Open in 2017. The Friends, a nonprofit group that promotes and encourages the use of library services by fundraising, supporting special events and providing programs for the community, has begun planning for the 2018 event. Memory Cafe plays word games Mar 23

Persons with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia, their caregivers and family members are invited to monthly Alzheimer’s Association Memory Cafés held at 1 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The programs are free; no registration required. Each month features a new theme:

Half Day Party on Mar 3

Kids ages 6 to 12 who attend school in Fond du Lac School District have a happy half-day off on Friday, March 3. They’re invited to spend part of their free time at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Half Day Party from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to watch the animated movie The Secret Lilfe of Pets (PG), enjoy snacks and play bingo in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Learn 3-D design with TinkerCAD Mar 16

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio has two 3-D printers. To help trained users get more fun out of the machines, the library is offering a program teaching 3-D design on TinkerCAD at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 16. TinkerCAD, is a free web-based 3-D computer-aided design application designed for beginners.

'Beginning Crochet' offered 2x Mar 18

Shake off winter doldrums by learning Beginning Crochet at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The class will be offered at 10 a.m. and repeated at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, in the library’s Idea Studio.

Learn to make challah bread Mar 21

Breads of the World will travel to Israel at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, in the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio kitchen, when Dusty Krikau will demonstrate how to make the rich braided yeast bread challah.
