My dream is to ...

“Someday walk my daughter down the aisle.”

“Be the first in my family to finish college.”

“To stay with my teacher, Mrs. Emmer, forever.”

Visitors to the Fond du Lac Public Library downtown are sharing their dreams on a special interactive display, My dream is to …. It’s a part of the library’s summer reading program, Dream Big: Read.

“We didn’t know what to expect, but the response has been wonderful and heartwarming,” said Director Ken Hall.

Some of the dreams are funny (“To eat the biggest corn dog”) and some touching (“For my sister’s cancer to be cured”). Hall finds many of them inspiring.

“Every day I read the new ones, and it really gives me a lift,” he said. “It’s great to see how the boards are sparking conversations, even among strangers.”

The boards will be up through August 17. The library still is signing up kids, teens and adults for summer reading programs, which run through August 18.
