A Shrewd, Laugh-Out-Loud Parody of the Fifty Shades of Grey series

Parodies are meant to poke fun at things and Fifty Shames of Earl Grey by Fanny Merkin (aka Andrew Shaffer) does just that. It doesn't just poke fun at the popular erotic series; it takes aspects of the first in the erotic series, Fifty Shades of Grey by E. L. James, and raises them to a whole different level - of absurd and outrageous – and outrageous is putting it mildly. I will admit it. I did read James's Fifty Shades of Grey. I wanted to find out what all the commotion was about, and I would have to say I am still not quite sure. I have read a lot of romance novels in my time and can't say I was overly impressed by the erotic series. When I saw this new parody I just had to read it, and I laughed through the entire book! There are scenes so over the top that you wonder how the author ever came up with them. Those of you who loved the original Fifty Shades series may find Fifty Shames of Earl Grey a bit offensive, simply because it does follow the story line of the first book - but that is where the similarity ends. It truly pokes fun at the original story, and not in a very nice way. I won't tell you how the book ends, but there is a complete list of all 50 of "Earl Grey's Fifty Shames". And the best part; there is an excerpt from the next installment in the series at the very end titled Fifty Shames in Space. My guess is that it will be just as much fun to read as the first one.
