Let the Peeping begin

They started as simple yellow Easter marshmallow chicks. Today, Peeps come in multiple shapes, sizes and colors, sold year-round and have morphed into the stuff of modern art.

Shotgun Lovesongs, debut novel by Wisconsin author Nickolas Butler

I am interested in books with a Wisconsin connection and was excited to see this debut Wisconsin author speak at the Public Library Association convention in March. Shotgun Lovesongs is set in the small fictional town of Little Wing near Eau Claire and is narrated alternately by Henry, Lee, Ronny, Kip, and Beth who are all in their early 30s. Henry is a farmer and married to Beth. Lee has become a famous musician. Ronny is a former rodeo star and recovering alcoholic who now has brain damage.

Celebrate Planet Earth April 22

Kids ages 6-12 are invited to drop in after school to celebrate the 44th annual Earth Day at the Fond du Lac Public Library. From 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, kids can stop in to make a planet-friendly craft to take home and enjoy a healthy after-school snack. The program is free; no registration required.

Spring break movie 'Hop' on April 18

Spring break time is movie time at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Kids are pop in to watch the movie Hop and enjoy snacks at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18. For children ages 12 and younger (5 and younger must be accompanied by an adult). The program is free; no registration required.

Half-Day Party April 4 features 'Frozen'

The mega-hit movie Frozen (rated PG) will be the feature of the 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Half Day Party April 4 at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Ahhh Spa for teens April 27

After this tough winter, who isn’t up for a spa treatment? Teens can pamper themselves at Ahhh Spa on Sunday, April 27, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Teens in grades six to 12 are welcome for an afternoon with the experts from Renaissance Salon, who’ll share tips and help. Teens will make a facial scrub to take home and will receive other products to refresh the skin and welcome spring.

The event is free, no registration required.

 

Open Door Artists exhibit in April

The 13 members of the Open Door Artist organization will present, A Baker’s Dozen, Thirteen Open Doors April 2 through May 7 at the Langdon Divers Gallery at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Marian U history class finishes in April

The wildly popular weekly American History class offered by Marian University at the Fond du Lac Public Library will conclude in April with five classes, marching through to 1865. Classes meet at 6 p.m. The schedule:
