Cookie decorating class repeated Dec 8

Back by popular demand: the Fond du Lac Public Library will repeat the Fancy Holiday Cookies class at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 8.

Giving Trees benefit local kids

The Fond du Lac Public Library has set up Giving Trees at the downtown library and at FDLPL Express branch to collect donations of new hats, scarves, mittens, gloves and socks. Donated items will be accepted through Dec 23 and given to the Fond du Lac Salvation Army for distribution to local children.

Shrinky Dinks ornaments Crafternoon Dec 10

Crafters will color Shrinky Dinks designs, bake them in the Idea Studio oven and leave with brightly colored Christmas ornaments at the 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10, Crafternoon program at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free; all supplies provided.

Teen DIY Holiday Party, Library Council in Dec

Teens in grades 6 through 12 can come to the Fond du Lac Public Library’s DIY Holiday Party at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 4, and cross off at least one gift on their shopping list. Teens will make a wall-accent clothespin wreath, good for displaying photos, holding cocoa packets or teabags. Hot cocoa and snacks will be served, and some teens will score door prizes.

Drop off your letters to Santa

When it comes to Christmas wishes, kids know it’s smart to put them in writing. Kids who drop off their letters to Santa at the Children’s Room at the downtown Fond du Lac Public Library by 3 p.m. Monday, December 5, will get a personalized reply by Santa mailed to their homes before Christmas.

Kids R.E.A.D. to dogs

Kids in grades kindergarten through six who might be struggling with reading or shy about reading aloud are perfect for the R.E.A.D. program at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Children can read aloud to Reading Education Assistance Dogs in a relaxed, nonjudgmental setting. Young readers benefit from the dogs’ patience and comforting presence.

Green Screen Photography for tweens Nov 10

Imagine yourself atop K2. Or at the bottom of Death Valley. Maybe picking flowers on planet Scarif. It’s all possible with a green screen.

Half off fines on Black Friday

You can wait in line, throw elbows and scramble for deals at the superstore. Or you can spend Black Friday in the pleasant confines of the Fond du Lac Public Library and get a great deal. On Friday, November 25, the downtown Main Library will offer half off all fines, 9 a.m. to noon. No restrictions. Pay half your fees – overdue, lost, damaged, etc. – and clear your account.
