The Summer Reading Program is in full swing. There are currently 1054 kids signed up.
Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney was voted the favorite bedtime story with 73 total votes (26%).
Noah S. (left) was the winner of our Lego Guessing contest. He took home the Lego Ideas Book and a $2 gift certificate to the Book Cellar. Ashleigh S. (right) took home a R2D2 Play-doh set consolation prize for having the 2nd closest guess. There were 385 Legos in the guessing jar.
Maybe it was all the hot, humid weather we had been experiencing, but as I was browsing the Lucky Day shelves the other day I took one look at the pretty green gingham patterned dress on the cover of the new novel by Joshilyn Jackson, A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty, and it just seemed like the perfect summer read. I love reading books about the south and this one takes you right into the heart of Mississippi and its unique culture. A Grown-Up Kind of Pretty is about 3 generations of women: Big (Ginny), Little (Liza), and Mosey Slocumb. Every 15 years they are cursed.

Today's Lego Club was a success. There were 24 creative kids in attendance. The topic of discussion for the day's build was "walls" and how to build them using staggering and overlapping techniques. Tablets and e-readers are growing in popularity, and new devices hit the market all the time. They’re wonderful, but they can be confusing to new users.
How to Use Tablets and E-readers will help clear up the confusion at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the library. The session will co-presented by staff members from the Fond du Lac Best Buy store and by library staff.
It’s that time again – The BookCellar’s annual bag sale will take place Saturday, July 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower level of the Fond du Lac Public Library. The sale is being held in conjunction with the downtown Sidewalk Sale.
