Persons with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia, their caregivers and family members are invited to monthly Alzheimer’s Association Memory Cafés held at 1 p.m. usually on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Learn how to program the CNC Carvey machine to cut linoleum blocks for printing at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 2, at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio. Attendees will be trained on the Carvey and will learn about lino-block printing, including preparing and inking blocks, reviewing printmaker’s tools and how to use a small press.
Students can take advantage of the holiday break and learn how to design and print a 3-D linked bracelet at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio. Open to teens 13 and older and adults, the Idea Studio is offering the bracelet program four times: 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursday, December 28, and Friday, December 29. Space is limited; online registration is required and starts at 9:30 a.m.
Learn to make a great holiday gift – a cozy, warm reversible neck warmer – while getting trained on either the sewing machine or the serger in classes at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio. The free classes are open to adults and teens age 13 and older.
In Denmark, the holidays are marked with the presentation of a steaming-hot plate of aebleskivers, spherical “pancake puffs” cooked in a special cast-iron skillet and served with lemon juice, syrup and jam.
The Fond du Lac Public Library, with a little help from its friends, rounds up its four-part Try Something New series at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 14, with Painted Totes class. The program is free; no registration required.
