1-year birthday party at Express Jan. 26

Fond du Lac Public Library opened its first branch – FDLPL Express – a year ago on east Johnson Street offering a “to-go” collection of popular materials for all ages.

Express will celebrate with a one-year birthday party from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26. Browser the library mascot will be on hand to serve birthday cake, and kids are welcome to stop at the craft table to create a make-and-take birthday hat.

The event is free and open to the public; no registration required.

Express is open five days a week, including weekends, and has proven very popular among shoppers, busy families and residents of the east side county residents. The collection includes books for adults, teens and children, DVDs, audiobooks and magazines.

“Customers love the convenient location and free parking so much that circulation has doubled that of the old bookmobile that had been parked in front of Festival Foods,” said Lori Burgess, library support services coordinator.

FDLPL Express hours: Mondays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursdays and Fridays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
