Lakeside Evening Kiwanis of Fond du Lac donated $400 to the Children's Room of the Fond du Lac Public Library for the purchase of a new giant-book-shaped standing bookshelf.
The members of Fond du Lac Visual Arts have collaborated in an annual show at the Fond du Lac Public Library gallery through December. The range of work is vast: jewelry, ceramics, watercolor, collage, oils … it’s a multimedia exhibit that showcases the diversity of the group.
The Fond du Lac Public Library is selling Solutions Center’s Christmas tree pickup tags for $5 at both the downtown location and FDLPL Express near Festival Foods. Trees sporting the red vinyl tags set out curbside in the City of Fond du Lac will be picked up and recycled on Saturday, January 19.
Tags also are being sold at City Hall, A&W, Gilles, the three Fond du Lac National Exchange Bank locations and at the Solutions Center office, 39 Sophia St.
Fans of Stuart Woods might enjoy reading the latest novel by Randy Wayne White titled Gone. The greatest similarity between the two authors is the Florida setting, followed by the smooth flowing dialogue. Known for his Doc Ford novels, in which Ford is a marine biologist and sometime investigator, this new novel by White introduces a stunning new character, Hannah Smith. She is a descendant of the legendary Florida Smith women - Sarah, known as the 'Ox Woman' and Hannah, known as 'Big Six'.
The Fond du Lac Public Library’s Lego Club for kids has been so popular, organizers have added a second meeting this month – 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 27. Kids who were unable to attend the earlier club meeting are invited to sign up for the free event at the Calendar, by calling (920) 322-3940 or stopping by the Children’s Desk.
The Lego Club is exclusive for kids ages 7 to 12 – no adults or younger children. All materials are provided. Registration is required.

Christmas Eve, December 24: Main Library and FDLPL Express closed. Journeys closing early at 4 p.m.
Christmas, December 25: All locations closed.
New Year’s Eve, December 31: All locations close at 4 p.m.
Just in time to avert the mini-crisis on your holiday shopping list: What to get that helpful neighbor/adorable niece/plucky cat sitter? The Fond du Lac Public Library’s BookCellar sells $5 gift certificates.
The BookCellar, located in the library’s lower level, is Fond du Lac’s only used books store. It sells books, movies, music and more at great prices: most books are $1, kids’ books and paperbacks are 50 cents. It also has rare, vintage and collectible books at very affordable prices. The store is run primarily by volunteers, and proceeds benefit library programming.
The Fond du Lac Public Library will celebrate the Downtown Fond du Lac Home for the Holidays on Saturday, December 1, with a kids’ holiday treasure hunt and guess-how-many game in the Children’s Room all day. Just drop in during open hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
