Local artist Kathryn Dreifuerst will walk through the steps and demonstrate how to make clay pottery on a wheel at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio. The program is free and open to adults and teens age 13 and older. Registration is required starting at 9:30 a.m.

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular History at Home series on August 17 will feature the third installment of the quarterly Fond du Lac Picture Shows. At 2 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m., Tracy Reinhardt of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society will share a slideshow of historical photos of area churches and schools.

Local artist Kathryn Dreifuerst is the first-ever summer resident at the Idea Studio in the Fond du Lac Public Library. The painter, sculptor and potter invites the public to stop in during her studio hours to create an original clay tile. Dreifuerst will fire all the tiles and install them in a community mosaic at the library.
Fond du Lac Transit’s Buses to Books program allows kids ages 6 to 17 to ride the bus to the downtown Main Library and back for free on Thursdays this summer through August 24 using their library cards as bus passes. Kids ages 6 to 9 must be accompanied by an adult, and adults pay full fare. Bus routes and other transit information are available on the Transit Dept.
This spring, historians Dr. Rick Whaley and Herman Bender have a grassroots, community-based historical research project called My Hometown. Open to anyone who wished to learn how to research the past, the group embarked on researching buildings in Fond du Lac.
