Call for 2019 calendar art

The Fond du Lac Public Library invites area photographers and artists to submit images for a 2019 My Favorite Fondy wall calendar. For the second year, the library will be creating a calendar that captures the essence of living in the Fond du Lac area. Digital entries are due to the library no later than July 15.

Everyone is invited to submit – amateurs, professionals, all ages. Judges will select 12 images and the resulting calendar, My Favorite Fondy 2019, will be sold as a library fundraiser.

Great Lakes exhibit Feb 5-19

Great Lakes Small Streams: How Water Shapes Wisconsin traveling exhibit tells the story of the region’s freshwater resource – one of the largest on the planet – and its relationship with the people of Wisconsin through the ages. The 16-panel display will be at the Fond du Lac Public Library February 5-19.

‘Pieces of My Heart’ in gallery Feb 7-Mar 6

Have you ever had your heart broken? Break another’s heart? February, Valentine month, is a good time to reflect on relationships. Local artist Susan Fiebig offers a personal exploration in her exhibit, “Pieces of My Heart,” at the at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery February 7 through March 6.

American Revolution rocks Big History

The weekly series by Dr. Rick Whaley and Herman Bender continues at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Big History: From the Revolution to the Mexican War will run through March 28. The programs are free; no registration required.

Fair Trade: Meet Your Coffee Farmer Feb 26

Your morning coffee has the power to jump-start your day. Those beans – and our decisions made at the grocery store – also exert great power on the farmers and communities that supply them. “Meet Your Coffee Farmer” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. Monday, February 26, at the Fond du Lac Public Library, hosted by Just Fare Market. The program is free; no registration required.

FDL author to sell, sign novel Feb 10

Fond du Lac author David Michael Williams will sell and sign copies of his new novel, If Souls Can Sleep, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Instant Pot Users' Group Feb 7

Instant Pot fever is sweeping the nation. The kitchen appliance that’s a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, yogurt maker, steamer, warmer and sauté pan all in one can be a bit intimidating, though, especially to new users. An Instant Pot Users’ Group is planned for 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, in the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio Demonstration Kitchen.
