Throughout April, the Fond du Lac Public Library will waive $1 in overdue fines for each donation of a nonperishable food item to celebrate Money Smart Week (April 5-12) and National Library Week (April 13-19) and to support local food pantries.
Sign-up starts April 5 for the April 19 Soda Bottle Flowers Crafternoon class at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Class meets from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Space is limited, and registration is required beginning at 9 a.m. April 5 at the Calendar or by calling the Help Desk at (920) 322-3929.
I liked fairy tales as a child and was drawn to this new book While Beauty Slept by Elizabeth Blackwell--a retelling of the tale of Sleeping Beauty with an emphasis on court life and power struggles rather than magic. It is fantasy that reads like historical fiction.
The word “book” used to mean one thing: a bunch of printed pages bound together with a sturdy cover. Now, it can be something you listen to or – more frequently – a digital file accessed on an electronic device. Regardless of how it’s delivered, the book is the thing at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
Ann Peters grew up in Taycheedah, just off Highway 151. After graduating from Goodrich, she went to University of Notre Dame and, armed with her degree, off to New York City. Peters’ father, Roger Peters, was a successful local architect. He designed the family home on the Ledge as well as many other notable residences.
