If you like Debbie Macomber and Jennifer Chiaverini...

Three Good Things by Wendy Francis is a debut novel set in the Madison area. This is a light and heartwarming story about two sisters who are trying to make the best of their lives while dealing with the difficulties that come along. If you like books about family dynamics with a dash of romance, then you may like Three Good Things.

Ellen McClarety is a recent divorcee who has opened a bakery specializing in kringles. Her parents are both deceased, but her younger sister, Lanie, lives in the area. Both sisters miss their mother whose advice was that at the end of the day you can always think of three good things that happened. Lanie seems to have it all with a career as a lawyer, a loving husband, and a baby, but she is feeling the stress of balancing a career and her family.

Ellen is happy with the success of her kringle shop. One of Ellen’s regular customers is Henry Moon, a nice widower and owner of a local landscaping business. But just when things are going along smoothly, Ellen’s handsome but irresponsible ex-husband contacts her, and old feelings start to surface.

Things get sorted out at the end, and a recipe for making kringle is included as a bonus.
