Paintings in March gallery show reflect 'Today'
Works by local painter Nina Schmidt will be on display at the Fond du Lac Public Library gallery through the month of March. The exhibit, Today: The Smallest Moments Linger, reflects Schmidt’s life as an artist, mother and wife.
“Art can be functional, livable and beautiful,” Schmidt said. “But it should also tell a story.”
Schmidt will host a public reception at the gallery at 6 p.m. Thursday March 7. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.
Schmidt’s artistic eye hones in on the use of color and relationships between colors. According to her bio: “The reds rarely sit still. The blues start in the sky, but move lower and begin to cover birds, boats, a field of corn. Orange shows up along the back of a horse or on the trunks of trees. The lines and brush strokes are her way of trying to make sense of what she sees. Only the colors are real, the rest of the composition is space between colors.”
More information about the artist is available on her website, www.ninaspalette.com.
The library gallery is curated by Fond du Lac Visual Arts, a professional arts group devoted to art awareness and education, development and enhancement of artists’ skills and strengthening connections between art and commerce in the Fond du Lac area.
