Kids ages 6 to 12 who attend school in Fond du Lac School District get a bonus: early release on the first Fridays of the month starting in October. Parents perhaps aren’t as thrilled. The Fond du Lac Public Library has stepped in with a free program, Half Day Parties, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every first Friday of the month starting October 7.
Outdoor writer and wildlife biologist Bob Willging will answer that question in his History at Home programs at 2 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 20, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free; no registration required.
Back by popular demand, the teen Cosplay Party will be held Friday, October 21, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Teens in grades 6 through 12 should wear fandom-inspired (library-appropriate) costumes for a party that includes a costume contest with prizes, trivia, games, snacks and door prizes, including a chance to win a Harry Potter Clue game. Free. No registration required.
More information is available by calling the Children’s Desk at (920) 322-3940.
The Fond du Lac Public Library downtown recently installed hearing loops in their two largest meeting rooms and service desks. Hearing loops help persons with hearing aids or cochlear implants to hear presentations and conversations more clearly by sending electromagnetic signals to their listening devices.
