Did You Know…....May is “Get Caught Reading” Month?
Launched by the Association of American Publishers, "Get Caught Reading" is a nationwide public service campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read – not only in the month of May, but all year long. Why not let the library help you "get caught"? Reading is a central part of what the library is all about. We have loads of titles, sure to please any reader. Feel like browsing for new authors to try? Stop in and check out our display of hand-picked staff favorites near the main staircase. We pulled our favorite fiction and nonfiction titles just for you. No matter where you read, what you read, or whether you prefer paper, electronic, or audio books, the library has you covered!
Being an avid reader is a wonderful thing, but can have its downfalls too. For example, what do you do if you have read all the titles by your favorite author and are not sure what to read next? The library Help Desk is a great place to go for all your reader's advisory needs. We have numerous resources at hand to help you find a new favorite. But, most important, we enjoy sharing our love of reading with you. Stop and tell us about what books you have read and liked, or did not like. As I am sure you know, it is impossible for library staff to read every book in the library. Readers' feedback helps us recommend titles to others even though we have not read the book. Personally, providing reader's advisory service is very rewarding, especially when someone says to me "I loved that book you recommended last time I was in".
So, go out there and Get Caught Reading. And remember, we are here to help if you need us!
