Book covers offered for $3 each

One of the many back-to-school rituals – covering the year’s new textbooks – has been made easy as pie with a new piece of equipment at the Fond du Lac Public Library. For just $3 per book, the library will cover books up to 15 inches tall in just a few seconds. The clear plastic covers are extra-durable and resist moisture and sticky fingers.

The service will start Tuesday, September 3, in the lower level of the Main Library downtown. Either follow the signs to the Technical Services Dept., or inquire at any service desk. Book covering will be offered 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Any book can be covered – family bibles, yearbooks, cherished baby books, heirloom collectables. The covers do not adhere to the book; they’re custom fitted and heat-sealed at the edges, so there’s no damage to book jacket surfaces. The plastic used has been approved for museum and archival applications, meaning the book jacket surface will not degrade over time.
