'How Does Michael Hingson Do That?' on Oct 10

How Does Michael Hingson Do That? will be presented at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 10, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The presentation is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Representatives from the Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired will talk about the technology that Thunder Dog author Michael Hingson – blind from birth – might use in his everyday life. Attendees will try on goggles that simulate the experience of low vision. Some of the technology on display will be a talking computer, audio clothing labels, Braille keyboard and methods to check the time and keep a calendar without.

The presentation is part of the library’s month-long celebration of Fond du Lac Reads: Thunder Dog, by Hingson. It’s the true story of how he and his guide dog survived the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center.
