Prepare for emergencies with Oct 8 class

Emergency Preparedness at Home and Away will be presented at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 8, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The presentation is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Jim McNabb, who heads up the Fond du Lac County Dept. of Communication/Emergency Mangement, will talk about the easy steps anyone can take to protect themselves and their families during a natural or manmade disaster. This includes how to create an emergency supply kit, have an evacuation or sheltering plan and how to stay informed.

McNabb is a retired police chief with 35 years of law enforcement experience in major metropolitan and rural areas in Wisconsin, Kansas and Missouri.

The presentation is part of the library’s month-long celebration of Fond du Lac Reads: Thunder Dog, by Michael Hingson. It’s the true story of a blind man and his guide dog surviving the 9/11 attacks at the World Trade Center.
