Sign up for Team Trivia 2014

Grab a friend who’s into sports. Another history buff. And maybe a science nerd. Voila: you have the perfect Team Trivia roster. Or not. You’d probably do just as well by corralling a few friends for the 14th annual Team Trivia. The quizmasters are notorious for their off-the-wall questions, stumping college professors and algebra drop-outs alike.

Teams of four can sign up now for the March 11 and March 13 event at Whispering Springs Golf Club. Team members pay $25 for adults and $15 for teens (ages 13-18). The event includes a cash bar and a $12.50 per person Pulled Pork Sandwich dinner. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m., accompanied by live music from Daryl Rogers, and the quizzing begins at 6:30 p.m.

Anyone can play. The fun is in the group-think, trying as a team to come up with answers to questions on music, movies, history, sports, literature, geography, science and Wisconsin. At the end of the game, scores are tallied and awards are given to the top three teams. The first-place team on March 11 will be invited back to compete – for free – on March 13. Teams also can buy one “answer” per game, for $20. These come in very handy when a really tough question comes up.

The event includes a raffle; tickets will be on sale at the Fond du Lac Public Library February 24 through March 10. Prizes include themed gift baskets (Cozy Up with a Book, Game Night, Spa & Style and Kids Caboodle), golf for four at Whispering Springs Golf Course, a Packers autographed football and a Kindle Fire HD.

Team Trivia is supported by Radio Plus and Whispering Springs Golf Club and Backyard Bar and Grill. Contributors include Ang and Eddie’s Pizza, The BookCellar, Chimera Hobby Shop, Fond du Lac Children’s Museum, Green Bay Packer Foundation, Massage for Good Health, Renaissance Salon and Day Spa, Saavy Boutique and Village Market.

The event supports Fond du Lac Literacy Services, a non-profit organization that helps adults with the basic skills needed to learn and prosper in the 21st Century: reading, writing and mathematics. Trained tutors provide free, one-on-one instruction. It’s estimated that eight percent, or 6,000 adults, in Fond du Lac County read below the sixth grade level.

Print, fill out and mail the PDF team registration form or contact the Literacy office by calling (920) 322-3932 or emailing [email protected]. Fond du Lac Literacy Services office is located on the second floor of the Fond du Lac Public Library.
