Superhero Princess Party May 31

It’s going to be a celebration of princesses and superheroes. Children ages 12 and younger are invited to come to the Fond du Lac Public Library Children’s Room from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 31, with their cape, crown, tutu, mask or any favorite hero and/or princess gear for a power-packed afternoon of fun. Free. No registration required.

Free custard for kids

Kids love to color and they love frozen custard, so this is a win-win. Kids ages 11 and younger can pick up a special coloring sheet at the Fond du Lac Public Library Children’s Desk throughout April. All they have to do is draw a picture about their favorite book, turn the picture in to the library and they get a coupon for a free scoop of custard. The coupon is redeemable at any neighborhood Culvers.

Growing, using herbs class on May 14

Master gardener and herbalist Lynette Liepert will present Growing and Using Culinary Herbs at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free; no registration required.

A story of friendship set at a vintage clothing shop in Madison

Three women, Violet, April, and Amithi, deal with their problems and bond at the Hourglass Vintage shop in Madison in the debut novel Vintage by Susan Gloss. This is a feel-good story that should appeal to people who like Cecelia Ahern, Elizabeth Berg, and Debbie Macomber. Each chapter starts with a description of a vintage item that is featured in that chapter’s storyline.
