Solar Light Centerpiece sign-up starts July 5

Sign-up starts Saturday, July 5, for the July 19 Solar Light Centerpiece Crafternoon class at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The class meets from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Crafters will use clay pot, paints, decorations and a solar light to make and decorate a handy light-up centerpiece for picnics and cookouts. All supplies provided. Crafternoon is open to adults and teens in middle school and older. Space is limited, and registration is required beginning at 9 a.m. June 5 at the Calendar or by calling the Help Desk at (920) 322-3929.

Crafternoon takes place every third Saturday of the month with a different make-and-take project. It was inspired by a similar program at the New York Public Library that’s run by Maura Madden, who wrote, Crafternoon: A Guide to Getting Artsy and Crafty with Your Friends All Year Long.

Other projects coming up (all Crafternoon registrations open at 9 a.m. 14 days in advance of the classes):

  • August 16: Origami Goldfish in a Bowl
  • September 20: Jeans Pocket Purse (Crafters need to bring one pair of old jeans with back pockets. The larger the better.)
  • October 18: Kilobyte Earrings
  • November 15: Rolled-Paper Picture Frame
  • December 6: Dixie Cup Garland (crafters need to bring a string of twinkle lights)
