Big deals on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday

You can wait in line, throw elbows and scramble for deals at the superstore. Or you can spend Black Friday in the pleasant confines of the Fond du Lac Public Library and get a great deal. On Friday, November 27, the downtown Main Library will offer half off overdue fines, 9 a.m. to noon. No restrictions. Pay half your fees – overdue, lost, damaged, etc. – and clear your account. These payments must be made at the downtown library’s Main Desk or by phone at (920) 322-3920.

And the next day, Saturday, November 28, Chapter 52 Bookstore will celebrate Small Business Saturday with a special sale: half off any one book in the store, including fiction, nonfiction, collectibles and Lucky Day books – no exclusions. Stop in to browse and enjoy free samples of the special Chapter 52 blend from Sleepy Sailor Coffee. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Also at Chapter 52 that day: Fond du Lac author Susan M. Baganz will be selling and signing copies of her novel, Pesto and Potholes, from 10 am to 1 pm.

Chapter 52 used books-and-more store is located next door to the downtown library at 52 Sheboygan St., on the corner of Marr and Sheboygan streets. The store also is open Mondays and Wednesdays noon to 5 p.m.

Small Business Saturday is a national celebration promoting shopping at small, independent businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
