Kolstad's turn to shine in Dec

In the show Paper, Ink, Wax, Thread, artist Mel Kolstad will get her due. As volunteer curator of the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery, Kolstad has put dozens of artists’ works in the best light. Now it’s her time to shine. Her collection of collage, prints, encaustic pieces and embroidery will run from December 2 to December 29.

The public is invited to a Mel-abration reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 10, in the gallery. Refreshments will be served.

“My initial artwork focused mainly on collage,” Kolstad said. “But in the past few years, I’ve been so enamored of so many different media, I wanted to try them all. Interestingly, my very first medium was embroidery and I find myself very much drawn to it once again.”

The library’s gallery is a showcase for local and regional artists. Artists interested in applying to exhibit their works can contact Kolstad at [email protected].
