Awards presented to teen contest winners

Surrounded by a display of all entries in the Fond du Lac Public Library's two contests for teens, awards were presented to winners in the Langdon Divers Gallery on May 12.

Teen Photo Contest:

  • Ahmoni Gonzalez, a seventh grader at Theisen Middle School, was on hand to accept the grand prize of a $250 Amazon gift card plus professional framing of his photo by Gallery & Frame Shop of Fond du Lac. His winning shot captured downtown Fond du Lac reflected on a rainy Main Street.
  • Also attending was Meagan Hayley Reynolds, a 12th grader in Bridges Virtual Academy, who won first place in the Digitally Altered category with a photo capturing a summer's day lakeside.
  • Other winners, not in attendance, were Hailey Brenner, eighth grader at Campbellsport Middle School, who took first place in the Architecture category, and Shannon Lobajeski, 10th grader at Fond du Lac High School, who took first in the category Anything Goes. All photo first-place winners won professional framing of their photos from Gallery & Frame Shop.

Upcycled Glam:

  • The grand prize of a $250 Amazon gift card was awarded to Annaliese Ferguson, a homeschooled ninth grader, for her full-length special-occasion dress made from hundreds of strips and pieces of magazine pages. Ferguson won second place in the Upcycled contest last year.
  • Also on hand to receive her prize was Emily Schmitz, an eighth grader from Sabish Middle School, who won second place for her dress made, in part, with coffee filters. She won a fashion book and Chapter 52 Bookstore gift certificates. Schmitz won third place in the contest last year.
  • Shannon Lobajeski, who also won an award in the Teen Photo Contest, won third place.
