Share parade photos at FDL Picture Show Feb. 16

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular History at Home series on February 16 will feature the start of a new, quarterly event for 2017: Fond du Lac Picture Shows. At 2 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m., Tracy Reinhardt of the Fond du Lac County Historical Society will share a slideshow of archival photos of the great parades in the area’s past.

In addition, attendees are invited to bring their own parade photos to the presentations. Historical Society personnel will scan the photos and return them to their owners on the spot. The scanned digital images will be added to the society’s collection, for posterity.

We Love a Parade will be followed by three more Picture Shows this year, one a quarter:

  • May 18: Fires and Firefighting
  • August 17: Church and School
  • November 16: Let’s Go Downtown

Reinhardt, who is the Historical Society’s library director and archivist, hopes to get inundated with parade photos.

“Digital technology allows us to share our histories without having to give anything up,” Reinhardt said. “For generations to come, our community will benefit.”
