Wheel-throwing demo Aug 8

Local artist Kathryn Dreifuerst will walk through the steps and demonstrate how to make clay pottery on a wheel at 6 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio. The program is free and open to adults and teens age 13 and older. Registration is required starting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, at the Calendar.

The class is part of Dreifuerst’s summer residency in the Idea Studio, where the public is invited to meet Dreifuerst and watch her work on Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. The Fond du Lac native and artist owns Riverwalk Art Center downtown and works in oil painting and ceramics. Her background is well-suited to the residency; she has 19 years’ experience teaching art in public schools, plus she conducts lessons at her gallery.

The Idea Studio is the library’s permanent do-it-yourself zone in the lower level with equipment to use for free and DIY programming. Extended summer hours (through September 1): 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. More information is available at www.fdlpl.org/ideastudio and on the studio’s Facebook and Instagram pages, found at Idea Studio FDLPL.
