Vibrant paintings by Picazo in Dec

With bold strokes, stark colors and deep lines, viewers will find much to admire in Art by Jorge Picazo at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery December 6 through January 2.

Picazo was born in Michuacan, Mexico, and moved to the United States at age 7. He started drawing at age 4 and switched to paint in his teens. His works echo and honor the artist’s namesake, Pablo Picasso.

“Art has helped me get through many obstacles in my life,” Picazo said. “Just the same way that my art has helped me, I want to create paintings that will motivate the viewers to move forward in their everyday lives. Through my art, I express who I truly am, my ideas, my knowledge, but most of all that I’m going to paint the truth for the people to see.”

The public is invited to a reception for Picazo 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 14, in the gallery; refreshments will be served.

The gallery’s volunteer curator is local artist Mel Kolstad, who can be contacted at [email protected]. For more information, visit the gallery’s Facebook page at facebook.com/langdondivers.
