Teen Photo Contest returns in 2017

The smartphone era has created a renaissance in photography; and no group has embraced the art like teens. Their creativity has been the driving force behind the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Teen Photo Contest, now going into its third year.

Make a Reader's Digest Diorama Jan 21

Collage and mixed media artist Mel Kolstad will be on hand to teach Reader’s Digest Diorama Crafternoon at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 21, in the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio.

Using an upcycled Reader’s Digest Condensed book, Shrinky Dinks plastic and artsy odds and ends, each crafter will make a small book-cover scene. Free. All supplies provided.

Learn 3-D design with TinkerCAD Jan 26

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s Idea Studio has two 3-D printers. To help trained users get more fun out of the machines, the library is offering a program teaching 3-D design on TinkerCAD at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 26. TinkerCAD, is a free web-based 3-D computer-aided design application designed for beginners.

Rosenow student artists in spotlight

Literacy of the Heart, an exhibit of artwork by children of Rosenow Elementary, will be featured at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Langdon Divers Gallery January 4 to January 31.

Mega-Zine Sale starts off New Year at Chapter 52

The Fond du Lac Public Library will hold its annual Mega-Zine Sale the first week of January at Chapter 52 Bookstore. Bundles of magazines from 2014 will be sold for 50 cents each and will include such popular titles as Vanity Fair, Shape, Outdoor Life, Country Living, Sports Illustrated, Reader’s Digest and Wisconsin Sportsman.

Trafficking & the Porn Industry Jan 9

In a program to mark January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month, Trafficking and the Pornography Industry, will be presented at 6 p.m. Monday, January 9, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free; no registration required.

Beer Hut & Outdoor Theatre remembered Jan 19

 

The Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular History at Home series kicks off the New Year with a beloved local topic: Memories of the Beer Hut and Lake Park Outdoor Theatre will be presented at 2 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 19. The programs are free; no registration required.
