Chillax, teens, on Dec 8

School. Finals. Big papers due. Concerts to give. Presents to buy. Teens are under a lot of stress as the school semester and the holidays both close in on their already hectic schedules.

Time to Chillax. Teens in grades six to 12 are invited to do just that at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 8, at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

2 great holiday parties for kids

The Children's Dept. is planning two great holiday parties in December:

Volunteer to hand out free books

Fond du Lac Public Library will be a distribution center for World Book Night, April 23, 2014, the annual global effort “spreading the love of reading, person to person.”

Library selling Wine Tasting tickets

The annual Holiday Wine Tasting, organized by Cujak's Wine Market, will be held 5-7 pm Saturday, November 9, at Fox Valley Savings Bank. The event again will benefit the Fond du Lac Public Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten literacy program.

Bag-a-Tree Craft on Nov. 10

Families with kids of all ages are invited to drop in at the Fond du Lac Public Library between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Sunday, November 10, for Bag-a-Tree Craft.

Using a brown paper bag and colored paper for leaves, kids will make a pretty autumn decoration for the table or just anywhere. Free; no registration required.

'A Dog's Life' all month in the gallery

This year, the annual Fond du Lac Reads program celebrated the memoir, Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog, and the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero, by Michael Hingson. The subject matter has inspired the November exhibit, A Dog’s Life, in the library’s Langdon Divers Gallery.

Black Friday Boot Camp Nov. 20

Forget about waking up at 3 a.m. to freeze in line at the mega-mart. Shop smarter this holiday season by attending Black Friday Boot Camp at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

'Wimpy Kid' half-day party Nov. 1

Kids ages 6 to 12 are invited to celebrate the release of the eighth Diary of a Wimpy Kid book at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s free party from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, November 1. Kids can just drop in at the McLane Room in the library’s lower level after school lets out early for the day to enjoy snacks, a movie, crafts and fun in a relaxed atmosphere.
