Artists are a rare breed. Some even are not human. The March show at the Fond du Lac Public Library Langdon Divers Gallery is a case in point.

Credit score class March 14

A person’s credit score – and its accuracy – can affect purchasing, loan rates and sometimes job prospects. The library will present a Money Smart U class, How to Build and Improve Your Credit Score, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 14.

Tammy Matzdorf, program director of Consumer Credit Counseling Service, will discuss how to improve a credit score, clean up credit and how to obtain a free credit report. Matzdorf has degrees in Accounting and Education.

Health reform program March 8

Health Reform: What it Means for Wisconsin Families will be presented at the main Fond du Lac Public Library at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 8. Presenter Kevin Kane will provide nonpartisan information on what the Affordable Care Act and other health policy changes mean for you, your family and your pocketbook.

Kids invited to Dr. Seuss Day March 2

The Cat in the Hat was silly but smart. He said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

Pop the corn: Big VHS sale at The BookCellar

To celebrate a bumper crop of VHS movies from the Children’s Room, The BookCellar is holding a big sale – all VHS tapes are 25 cents on Saturday, February 25, and Monday, February 27. Visitors to the store can enter to win a Family Movie Night Basket door prize, with popcorn, movies, books and snacks.

Find 3 smart friends for Team Trivia

What’s the only bird that can see the color blue? In which Wisconsin town was the ice cream sundae invented? What’s the only number with letters in alphabetical order?

These questions just might pop up at the 12th annual Team Trivia March 6 and March 8 at Whispering Springs Golf Club. Teams of four pay $100 to play at the event that benefits Fond du Lac Literacy Services.

2-part Beginning Genealogy class

It’s easy to get lost amid the myriad online resources that cater to people filling in their family trees. The Fond du Lac Public Library will hold a two-part class, Beginning Genealogy: Using FDLPL Online Resources. Part one is Tuesday, February 7; part two is Tuesday, February 21; and both are held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the McLane Meeting Room in the lower level.

Bundles of Love just 25 cents

Romance is in the air at The BookCellar. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Fond du Lac Public Library’s used books-and-more store is holding a Bundles of Love sale: bundles of five to six romance paperbacks are just 25 cents.

Faith Lutheran student art on display

Artwork by students kindergarten through eighth grade will be featured in the exhibit, A Taste of Art from Faith Lutheran School, at the library's Langdon Divers Gallery through February.

Drop-in Storytimes start Jan 31

The Fond du Lac Public Library will offer popular storytimes starting January 31 for children from 12 months to 5 years old. There is no registration required for any of these sessions; parents and kids can drop in at their convenience. The three storytimes are broken down by age group:
