Karl L. Stewart idolized his grandfather when he was young. The man was an icon from another age. A Choctaw raised in Oklahoma, his grandfather had magic hands – he could make and fix anything. One of Stewart’s most-prized possessions is a pair of leather chaps his grandfather made for him before he died when Stewart was only 10.
Veteran travelers Valerie and Wayne Graczyk have stored up a great deal of knowledge, passion and expertise – not to mention photographs – from their trips around the globe. They’re so excited about what they’ve seen and learned that they want to share with others.

It’s the Big Read – a statewide celebration of Money Smart Week just for kids. From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, the Fond du Lac Public Library will feature stories and activities for children in kindergarten through third grade that focus on teaching kids how to be smart consumers.
