People just starting out using computers can get a helping hand at “Introduction to Computers,” a series of four classes at the Fond du Lac Public Library in February.
The hands-on classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. February 7, 8, 14 and 15. Each class will tackle a computer skill: how to use a mouse, how to find things on the internet, basic terminology and commands (such as cut/copy/paste) and an introduction to email. Participants will be working on library computers. Laptop owners can bring their devices; make sure to note that when signing up.

Teams of four can sign up now for the March 6 and March 8 event at Whispering Springs Golf Club. Teams pay $100 per team to participate. The event includes a cash bar and a $13.50 per person soup and sub buffet. Dinner is served at 5:30 p.m., and the quizzing begins at 6:30 p.m.
Several dozen people gathered to help the Fond du Lac Public Library celebrate their first-ever branch location, FDLPL Express, on Saturday. Highlighting the event was the unveiling of a one-of-a-kind, custom-made circulation desk made of books.
The 21 members of Fond du Lac Visual Arts have collaborated in a show aptly named “21,” at the Fond du Lac Public Library gallery through December. Each member submitted two works, and the range is vast. Jewelry, ceramics, watercolor, collage, oils … it’s a multimedia exhibit that showcases the diversity of the group.

What’s under the cover? The grand opening of FDLPL Express, the Fond du Lac Public Library’s first branch, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, will feature a major unveiling. The wrapping will come off the branch’s circulation desk, which was designed and created locally.
One sure way to stretch Christmas shopping dollars and still make a big impression is to give gifts that you made yourself. The Fond du Lac Public Library will offer a hands-on program, Thrifty Gifts to Make, on Tuesday, December 6, at 6 p.m.
Three crafters – librarian Annette Clark and her friends Sue Derge and Charlotte Clark – will demonstrate several make-it-yourself gift projects. They will provide instructions and tools and supplies lists for each project. Everyone will make a decoupage Christmas ornament to take home.
