Summer 2014: Reading is Brain Food

Summer’s a great time to upgrade the body’s hard drive: the brain. And the best way to do that is to read, read, read. Summer reading programs at the Fond du Lac Public Library – Reading is Brain Food – reward kids, teens and adults for giving their brains a boost.

Early literacy program benefits from Holiday Wine Tasting

It’s a good guess that the hundreds who attended the annual Cujak’s Wine Market Holiday Wine Tasting at Fox Valley Savings Bank in November didn’t know their evening out was benefitting such a good cause. On Monday, Sara Cujak and Jim Ziebarth, vice president for FVSB Financial Services, presented a check for $3,500 to the Fond du Lac Public Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.

Superhero Princess Party May 31

It’s going to be a celebration of princesses and superheroes. Children ages 12 and younger are invited to come to the Fond du Lac Public Library Children’s Room from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 31, with their cape, crown, tutu, mask or any favorite hero and/or princess gear for a power-packed afternoon of fun. Free. No registration required.

Free custard for kids

Kids love to color and they love frozen custard, so this is a win-win. Kids ages 11 and younger can pick up a special coloring sheet at the Fond du Lac Public Library Children’s Desk throughout April. All they have to do is draw a picture about their favorite book, turn the picture in to the library and they get a coupon for a free scoop of custard. The coupon is redeemable at any neighborhood Culvers.

Spring break movie 'Hop' on April 18

THELMA dominates Team Trivia 2014

Celebration of the Book April 12

The word “book” used to mean one thing: a bunch of printed pages bound together with a sturdy cover. Now, it can be something you listen to or – more frequently – a digital file accessed on an electronic device. Regardless of how it’s delivered, the book is the thing at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
