The word “book” used to mean one thing: a bunch of printed pages bound together with a sturdy cover. Now, it can be something you listen to or – more frequently – a digital file accessed on an electronic device. Regardless of how it’s delivered, the book is the thing at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
What’s a new way to help literacy in our community? Team Trivia raffle tickets, of course. Tickets are on sale starting February 23 at the Fond du Lac Public Library, Saavy Boutique, Dynamic Chiropractic and Gallery & Frame Shop.
Tickets are $5 each or three for $10 and offer a chance to win:
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go,” said the wise Cat in the Hat.
The Fond du Lac Public Library hopes kids will go to the Children’s Room on Sunday, March 2, to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day. Kids ages 3-12 can stop in from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to hear stories, try their hands at a make-and-take craft, cookie decorating, do a bit of coloring and hope to win one of the door prizes. The event is free. No registration required.
Teddy is invited. So is bunny. Or kitty. And don’t forget dragon. They’re all invited to the Teddy Bear Sleepover at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Kids ages 3 to 8 are invited to drop off their best stuffed friend any time on Friday, March 14, and come back at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, to be reunited with their friends and enjoy breakfast and stories.
It’s a good guess that the hundreds who attended the annual Cujak’s Wine Market Holiday Wine Tasting at Fox Valley Savings Bank in November didn’t know their evening out was benefitting such a good cause. On Monday, Sara Cujak and Jim Ziebarth, vice president for FVSB Financial Services, presented a check for $3,500 to the Fond du Lac Public Library’s 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program.
Grab a friend who’s into sports. Another history buff. And maybe a science nerd. Voila: you have the perfect Team Trivia roster. Or not. You’d probably do just as well by corralling a few friends for the 14th annual Team Trivia. The quizmasters are notorious for their off-the-wall questions, stumping college professors and algebra drop-outs alike.
Many people with new e-readers might not know they can use their Fond du Lac Public Library account to borrow e-books from the library. The library has several resources available to help people learn how to receive this free service.
