Optimists' holiday gift to the library

Thanks to members of the Fond du Lac Evening Optimist Club, families who attend the Fond du Lac Public Library's Evening with Santa 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, each will receive a copy of the book, Mouse's First Christmas, by Lauren Thompson. Nov 6 Scrabble Bee deadline looms

Registration for the November 6 Scrabble Bee closes on October 31. Don’t miss out on challenging your brain as you have fun and benefit a great cause: Fond du Lac Literacy Services.

3-D Open Print on Nov 15

Are you an inventor? Innovator? Maybe just curious? Everyone’s welcome to the Fond du Lac Public Library’s first 3-D Open Print event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 15.

The library’s 3-D printers will be available to the public to print projects at no charge. Library staff will be on hand to facilitate the printing. No registration required.

Calling all monsters Oct 25

On Saturday, October 25, kids 12 and under are invited to come in costume for Monster Mash from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Children’s Room. Free. No registration required.

Kids will enjoy games, activities and treats. Costumes encouraged.

FDL Reads celebrates 'Ready Player One'

Can a gamer save the world? In Ernest Cline’s rollicking novel, Ready Player One, 18-year-old Wade Watts escapes the bleakness of the year 2044 to spend his time in OASIS, a multiplayer virtual reality world.

Leaves are turning, kids are going back to school and the Fond du Lac Public Library unveils great fall programs for kids.

SRO for Mercury Marine history talk

 

Retired Mercury Marine executive Jim Hubbard was pleasantly surprised with the crowd that turned out for his 75 Years of Mercury Marine history program at the Fond du Lac Public Library on August 6. The McLane Meeting Room, at standing room only, was full of faces familiar to Hubbard, who moved to Indiana after retiring as vice president and chief of staff in 2008.

Annual BookCellar Bag Sale on July 12

The BookCellar’s annual Bag Sale will take place Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the lower level of the Fond du Lac Public Library. The sale is being held in conjunction with the downtown Sidewalk Sale.
