Kids ages 6 to 12 who attend school in Fond du Lac School District get a bonus: early release on the first Fridays of the month. The Fond du Lac Public Library is offering Half Day Parties from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. featuring a kid-friendly movie, snacks and games of bingo in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The program, in the McLane Meeting Room in the Main Library’s lower level, is free. No registration required.
Calling all good spellers, competitors, social animals and good-deed-doers. The November 5 Scrabble Bee will challenge your brain as you have fun and benefit a great cause: Fond du Lac Literacy Services.
The whole family is invited to a Día de los muertos celebration 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, October 24, at the Fond du Lac Public Library’s Children’s Room.
Translated as day of the dead, Día de los muertos is celebrated throughout Mexico and acknowledged around the world in other cultures. It focuses on remembering family members and friends who have died.
Kids ages 3 to 5 and their adult friends are invited to Stories on Ice – a program of stories and skating – at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 1, at Blue Line Family Ice Center, 550 Fond du Lac Ave. The program is free, no registration required.
The Fond du Lac Public Library’s popular Storytimes programs resume on September 15.
All Storytime programs are drop-ins (no registration required) full of age-appropriate fun stories, songs and activities. Programs change weekly. Adults are encouraged to stay with their children; all children 5 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Six Playaway Launchpads are now available for checkout. The Launchpads are preloaded with age-specific educational, advertisement-free games grouped by topic (such as animals, dinosaurs and princesses) and by subject matter (such as math, science and the arts).
