Saturdays are super

Who doesn’t love Saturdays? They’re especially great for kids this fall at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Super Saturdays – a free program for school-aged kids – will introduce concepts such as chemistry and physics in a way that feels a lot more like play than school.

Family Storytimes start Sept 18

Fond du Lac Public Library will launch Family Storytimes starting September 18. The program for parents and kids ages 12 months to 5 years will be repeated four times a week through October 18, with a new program each week.

Wedgie Power! Capt. Underpants Party Aug 13

He’s bald. He’s hypnotized. He likes to shout, “tra-la-laaaa.” And aside from a red curtain tied around his neck, all he wears are white cotton underpants. Kids know him as Captain Underpants, the evil school principal-turned underdressed superhero and the star of an extremely popular series of kids’ books.

Tablet/e-reader program repeated Aug 15

Back by popular demand. A team of experts from the Fond du Lac Best Buy store and the Fond du Lac Public Library will again present How to Use Tablets and E-readers at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, at the library.

Kids invited to Dream Big: Read this summer

The children’s summer reading program at the Fond du Lac Public Library this year – Dream Big: Read – will encourage kids to imagine their wildest adventures through the magic of reading. Kids ages birth to 12 can sign up starting June 4 at the Main Library or FDLPL Express, near Festival Foods.

Teens + dreams + prizes = great summer reading program

If you don’t dream big dreams when you’re a teen, then when? Reading stokes the imagination, propelling into new worlds, new ideas and new possibilities. The Fond du Lac Public Library’s summer reading program for teens (kids going into seventh through 12th grades) will encourage young readers to follow and discover new dreams through reading.

Local author reads from Western May 22

Karl L. Stewart idolized his grandfather when he was young. The man was an icon from another age. A Choctaw raised in Oklahoma, his grandfather had magic hands – he could make and fix anything. One of Stewart’s most-prized possessions is a pair of leather chaps his grandfather made for him before he died when Stewart was only 10.

Get your 'I Bark for Books' T-shirt

To help celebrate National Library Week, the Friends of the Fond du Lac Public Library will be selling I Bark for Books T-shirts sporting the smiling face of Browser, the library’s furry mascot. The T-shirts will be sold for $8 in the library’s lobby from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 9 through April 13.

Bilingual 'dia' for kids April 28

Time to celebrate El día de los niños (Children’s Day)/El día de los libros (Book Day). The bilingual fun will take place in the Children's Room at the library on Saturday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Poem in Your Pocket April 20-26

April is National Poetry Month, and the Fond du Lac Public Library will celebrate with Poem in Your Pocket.
