Spooktacular Reads

Are you a fan of thrills, chills, and things that go bump in the night? With Halloween right around the corner, it is the perfect time to check out some spooky reads to get you in the "spirit" of things? Here are a few of my suggested titles. Be careful, read a few of these and you may have to sleep with the lights on!

Asylum by John Harwood

Heartwarming 'Hachi' on Oct 15

A movie the whole family will love, Hachi: A Dog’s Tale will be shown for free at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. Snacks will be served. No registration required.

What would you do?

If you knew you were dying, what would you do? What would you see? Who would you spend your last year with? Susan Spencer-Wendel faced these decisions at forty-four years old when she was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) - Lou Gehrig's disease - an irreversible condition that systematically destroys the nerves that power the muscles. She shares her story in Until I Say Goodbye: My Year of Living With Joy.

Basic Pet Grooming on Oct 12

Chris Lang from Tails A Waggin in Fond du Lac will present Basic Pet Grooming at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 12, during the Fond du Lac Public Library’s pet-themed event, Come. Sit. Stay. The presentation is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Lang will demonstrate the do’s and don’ts of keeping your pet healthy, clean and happy. Note: Pets are not allowed to attend with their human friends.

'Thunder Dog' author to talk via Skype on Oct 29

A Talk with Michael Hingson will be presented at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The presentation is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Monster Mash on Oct 25

On Saturday, October 25, kids 12 and under are invited to come in costume for Monster Mash from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Children’s Room.

Kids will enjoy games, activities and treats. Costumes encouraged. The library's Monster Mash will coincide with the Downtown Fond du Lac Monster March free trick-or-treating from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Main Street.

WI Regional Artists on display in Oct

The Fond du Lac Public Library Langdon Divers Gallery is the site of the annual Wisconsin Regional Art Program (WRAP) member show through the month of October.

Craft a Halloween Jar Lantern on Oct 19

It’s getting close to the witching hour: time to brew up a scary craft at the Fond du Lac Public Library Crafternoon program.

Experience England on Oct 16

Veteran travelers Valerie and Wayne Graczyk will share their photos, memories and stories from their extensive travels at Experience England, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free. No registration required.
