Celebrate Fondue Fest at the library Sep 9

The Fond du Lac Public Library has plenty of fun in store for the Saturday, September 9, Fondue Fest. There will be something to do for all ages, and for more than one species:

Try Something New starts Sep 14 with belly dancing

Even if the excitement of going back to school is a dim memory, the urge to learn something new can be especially strong this time of year. The Fond du Lac Public Library, with a little help from its friends, is offering a series of four classes – Try Something New – at 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month in the library’s Idea Studio in the lower level.

Sep 28 Memory Café explores the healing touch

Persons with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia, their caregivers and family members are invited to monthly Alzheimer’s Association Memory Cafés held at 1 p.m. the fourth Thursday of the month at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The programs are free; no registration required. Each month features a new theme:

Learn to make sourdough bread Sep 19

Sourdough bread is the oldest-known type of leavened bread – dating back to ancient Egypt – many of us in this country connect sourdough with San Francisco. French bakers brought the technique with them to California during the Gold Rush, and prospectors took it along to Alaska when following the trail to gold.

Aug 10 program previews eclipse

Are you in the Path of Totality? Find out by attending Total Eclipse of the Heart(land) at 6 p.m.
Thursday, August 10, at the Fond du Lac Public Library. The program is free; no registration required.

Mandala Stones repeated Aug 23

Mandalas can be thought of as circles within circles; they represent the cosmos, the self and unity. The Fond du Lac Public Library will offer a repeat of the relaxing Mandala Stones painting program at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 23. All supplies provided. The free program is open to adults and teens age 13 and older. Space is strictly limited.

Top off summer with Chapter 52 bargains

There’s plenty of summer left, and that means lots of time for reading and relaxing. Fond du Lac Public Library’s Chapter 52 Bookstore is offering great sales in August to help wring the last drop of fun from the season:

Summer Reading @ the Library winds down Aug. 12

Summer Reading @ the Library ends on Saturday, August 12, which is the last day that participating kids, teens and adults can turn in their completed reading cards for rewards at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Author Ramirez at Chapter 52 on Aug 19

Local author Thomas Ramirez will sell and sign copies of his memoir, That Wonderful Mexican Band, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 19, at Chapter 52 Bookstore, next door to the Fond du Lac Public Library at 52 Sheboygan St.
