eBay classes added in March

Due to popular demand, the Fond du Lac Public Library now is offering two additional How to Sell on eBay classes on Tuesday, March 12, at 1:30 p.m. and repeated at 6 p.m.

The presentation will walk through setting up an eBay account and listing an item for sale.

Registration is appreciated at the Calendar or by calling the library Help Desk at (920) 322-3929.

 

'How to Eat Local' on March 20

The eat-local trend is mushrooming, with proponents such as food journalist Michael Pollan suggesting that buying local food conserves energy, supports farmers and preserves the natural landscape.

How to make that happen? Join farmer couple Paul and Sara Huber for How to Eat Local, 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

Paintings in March gallery show reflect 'Today'

Works by local painter Nina Schmidt will be on display at the Fond du Lac Public Library gallery through the month of March. The exhibit, Today: The Smallest Moments Linger, reflects Schmidt’s life as an artist, mother and wife.

“Art can be functional, livable and beautiful,” Schmidt said. “But it should also tell a story.”

April Crafternoon: Storybook Birdhouse

Using a wooden birdhouse, upcycled children's books and lots of glue, you can create a one-of-a-kind indoor decoration at the 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20 Crafternoon program, Storybook Birdhouse. The program for adults and children in middle school and older at the Fond du Lac Public Library is free, but space is limited.

Puccini’s beloved opera La Boheme was a smash hit when it debuted in Italy in 1896. Today, it's one of the most-frequently performed operas in the world. Local aficionado the Rev. Jack Stubbs will host a lively discussion of the work at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, at the Fond du Lac Public Library.

March into big sales at The BookCellar

The city’s only used book store, the Fond du Lac Public Library’s BookCellar, is holding two great sales in March.

To celebrate the annual Read Across America Day, all teen books and kids’ chapter books will be 25 cents each on Saturday, March 2, and Monday, March 4.

Cujak donates $3,300 to literacy program

Sara Cujak hosted the Cujak’s Wine Market Holiday Wine Tasting at the Fond du Lac Public Library in November.
