Echo through the Snow is a new book that is set in and around Bayfield, Wisconsin and in and around the Red Cliff Reservation from 1992-1994 and in far northeastern Siberia mainly in 1929.
People starting out using computers can get a helping hand at Introduction to Computers, a series of four classes at the Fond du Lac Public Library.
The hands-on classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. September 17, 18, 24 and 25. Each class will tackle a computer skill: how to use a mouse, how to find things on the internet, basic terminology and commands (such as cut/copy/paste) and an introduction to email. Participants will be working on library computers. Laptop owners can bring their devices; make sure to note that when signing up.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn is a must-read for those who enjoy stories with a plot that keeps you guessing until the very end. To be honest, when I read the first few paragraphs I did not think I was going to like it. Seriously. In the first few paragraphs a man is talking about the shape of his wife's head and how when he first saw it he thought she had a "finely shaped head". OK. Next, he describes how he could picture himself opening her skull, un-spooling her brain, and sifting through it.
The source of the touching exhibit by local artist Beata Lieders at the Fond du Lac Public Library is profoundly sad: on June 16 this year, her son Blake died in a sudden, tragic accident.
“I lost a part of me. I lost my first born, my only son,” Lieders wrote in her statement for the exhibit, beauty through pain.
Kids love Legos. The library loves kids. Voila, the Lego Club.
From 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays September 18, October 23 and November 20, kids are invited to join the club and build, build, build. The club is free; all materials are provided.
The Lego Club is exclusive for kids ages 7 to 12 – no adults or younger children. Registration is required for each month’s session; registration begins the Monday before the club meets at the Calendar or by calling the Children’s Desk at (920) 322-3940.

Fond du Lac Public Library will launch Family Storytimes starting September 18. The program for parents and kids ages 12 months to 5 years will be repeated four times a week through October 18, with a new program each week.
